At Heartland Pet Welfare, we're on a mission to provide loving, fur-ever homes for cats and kittens. As a 501c3 non-profit, no-kill shelter, our dedication is unwavering. Every dollar donated helps us ensure that each feline friend finds the caring home they deserve. We rely solely on the generosity of private donations, grants when available, and fundraisers to fund our vital work. Our volunteers pour their time and hearts into this great cause, serving as the backbone of our efforts. Join us in creating a brighter future for these animals - your donation directly impacts their lives and secures their journey to a loving home.

Much Needed Supplies

Our recurring supply needs include: paper towels, Kleenex, laundry detergent, dryer sheets, bleach, dish soap, Lysol spray, 13 gallon garbage bags, litter, Revolution flea treatment, and Clorox wipes.

Support the Volunteers

None of our volunteers are compensated monetarily. However, your donations give them the supplies and equipment they need to care for the animals and cleaning the spaces they need. They also provide transportation of animals to and from the vet, adoption clinics, and other events sponsored by our adoption partners. Please consider making a donation. It helps the volunteers and the cats and kittens in our care.

Upcoming Projects

We’re always working on improvement projects. Here’s a short list of what projects we’re currently planning to implement.

Cages

Our handmade cages are approaching 20 years of use. They’ve housed and nurtured countless cats and kittens. However, most are in need of repair and the materials used are difficult to clean and sanitize. We continue to evaluate alternative cage materials and space designs. Ultimately as funds permit, we hope to replace all our cages with new durable, easy to clean, and most of all comfortable spaces that allow exercise and interaction. However, like most things, this takes money. Consider a targeted donation toward cages/condos.

Electrical Improvements

We’ve converted our garage space into heated and cooled shelter space. One of the projects on our wish list is additional outlets and fixtures that weren’t originally included. We hope to add additional capacity in the form of a dedicated subpanel to support additional outlets and capacity.

Beds

Comfort is what we’re after here. Beds must be both comfortable and washable. Please consider a monetary donation so we can purchase appropriate bedding. After all, cats are connoisseurs of comfort!
